With a novel idea. I woke up in the middle of the night, from a dream, scribbling notes on my arm because I couldn’t find my trusty notebook in the dark. The idea percolated for almost two years before I decided to do it for NaNo this year.
I’ve been researching, and backstorying, and dreaming, and revising. So much so, in fact, that after nearly two months, I’ve decided the idea is both too new and too complex for NaNo – for me at least. I find that if I’m too attached to an idea it stifles me during NaNo. If I have too much plotting and too many preconceived notions, it gets me nowhere in November.
A new idea struck. Something fluffy and silly and still very different from my usual jam. No romance, at least, none as of now. It’s Adventure! And Mystery! And Chaos! And characters wholeheartedly and without question, embracing the adventure, mystery and chaos.
There’s a protagonist of an unusual age, an adopted family member and a mysterious stranger – who no one trusts except my protagonist. There will be epic travels, and new experiences – for me and for my protag.
There are kitty cats, and I think they’re important, but I’ll find that out in November. And when I do, I’ll let you know.
