If you’ve ever been to a beer fest, you know how it goes – you go in with the intentions of trying as many beers as possible and yet, two hours in, you can barely figure out where your phone is, much less remember to take photos of the beer. Then you decide to sit in the grass, dripping sweat and sunscreen, and eat a NateDog to try to sober up enough to finish the tasting.
And you persevere.
Thus was my Saturday at All Pints North. Except that Nate Dogs wasn’t there. It was Knock Off Dogs. Not really. I have no idea what it was, but it was no Nate Dogs.
I didn’t take photos, because I knew it was pointless, but, my highlights:
Forager Brewing – Pudding Dribbles. Finally, finally, finally got to try this after listening to everyone brag on it for what felt like ages. Honestly, it’s fantastic. I think the variety of ‘sweets’ help in that none of them are overpowering. It’d be fantastic as a dessert with a scoop of ice cream.
Junkyard – Wicked Awesome Slurry & Big Kahuna Loved both, but preferred the Wicked Awesome – mainly just on style. It had a little hint of citrus without being overly sweet. The Big Kahuna was perfect with the ‘coconutty-chocolately-and was that a hint of coffee?’ flavor, but overall, was a little heavy for me.
Modist – Demons on the Weekend. Overall, I’d say this was my favorite beer of the weekend. Had that heavy hit of hops on the back of the tongue. One of the best beers I’ve had in a while.
Cheers Bitches!
